SUMMARY:Harry Scott Quintet
DESCRIPTION:The Harry Scott Quintet will perform one and a half hours of originals\, and new arrangements of standards. \nHarry Scott is an up and coming pianist and composer based in the Twin Cities and Chicago. Just 18\, he has performed with his Trio\, Quintet\, and solo across countless venues in the areas\, including The Dakota and Berlin. He is influenced by pianists by the likes of Sullivan Fortner\, Brad Mehldau\, and Bill Evans\, and composers such as Wayne Shorter\, Cedar Walton\, and Monk.  \n Laeton Olaleye is a rising talent in the Twin Cities jazz scene. He has performed in venues including the Dakota Jazz Club\, Crooners\, Jazz Central Studios\, MetroNOME Brewery\, and the Twin Cities Jazz Festival with renowned Twin Cities artists such as Omar Abdulkarim\, Tom Lewis\, and Will Kjeer. He has also played in New York City\, Chicago\, and Louisville. Laeton was a 2025-26 Minnesota Music Educators Association All-State Jazz Band musician and has received instruction from acclaimed jazz artists such as Patrick Bartley\, Kevin Washington\, Scott Johnson\, Jack Breen\, and Kavyesh Kaviraj. Olaleye’s captivating style has been influenced by Arthur Blythe\, John Coltrane\, and Cannonball Adderley\, along with many other greats. \nMatthew Hess\, 18\, is a saxophonist from Minneapolis\, MN. He performs with various groups across the Twin Cities including Minnesota Youth Jazz Bands\, Walker West Music Academy\, and MacPhail Center for Music. He has performed at various venues across the Twin Cities. \nCallum Schultz is a 17 year old bassist who has performed alongside saxophone greats Joe Lovano\, Kenni Holmen\, and JD Allen\, and has played at numerous Twin Cities venues such as The Dakota\, the Landmark Center\, the Governor’s Residence\, The Green Room\, and Berlin Jazz Club. He is a 2025/26 MN All State musician\, and a 2025/26 YoungArts jazz bass award winner. \nPete James Johnson is drummer\, composer and producer based in the Twin Cities. He regularly performs in the local music scene and sometimes performs with award-winning national artists. When not playing\, Pete works from home as a composer and producer writing music and producing local artists.

SUMMARY:Cadenza All-Stars
DESCRIPTION:The Cadenza All Stars are back! \nCadenza All Stars is a local Twin Cities Jazz Quartet made up of private music instructors at Cadenza Music in St. Paul\, performing standards and originals. These talented jazz performers have long been stalwarts in the local jazz scene. Saxophonist Jeff King can also be seen performing with the Kurt Jorgensen Band. He has released recordings under his own name\, and with the powerhouse trio “King Fletcher Woods”. Guitarist Joel Shapirais a nationally acclaimed musician and is a leader and/or member of multiple top Twin Cities’ jazz ensembles. He has also recorded several albums; a recent gem is his “Triple Bridge” recording. Drummer Eron Woods performs regularly with multiple Twin Cities jazz groups including funky jazz group “Pocket Groovers”\, and has enjoyed an eclectic career\, working on cruise ships\, touring with circuses\, and performing with flamenco groups. He can be heard on recordings including albums from Nick Haas Trio\, Grant Hart\, and Mandragora Tango. Erik Fratzke is a composer/performer/educator based in St. Paul\, Minnesota. Best known for his work as the bassist of Happy Apple\, he also leads his own quartet\, Fake Accent. He is also a member of Craig Taborn’s Junk Magic\, and Cory Healey’s Beautiful Sunshine Band. As a guitarist\, Erik is a member of The Dave King Trucking Company\, the avant-metal group Abhorrent Expanse\, Scott Miller’s Fifth Column Ensemble\, The Gang Font feat. Greg Norton\, as well as the leader of the instrumental rock group Zebulon Pike. His compositions have been performed and recorded by the new music group Zeitgeist. Erik has performed/recorded with Tim Berne\, Ethan Iverson\, Adam Levy\, Michel Portal\, Rhys Chatham\, Airto\, Benoit Delbec\, and Yoshida Tatsuya (Ruins).

SUMMARY:Zeitgeist - Sounding Ground Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Join Zeitgeist and Sounding Ground artists astrid hubbard flynn\, Isaac Mayhew\, and Yan Pang for a performance of the new works they have developed through Sounding Ground. \nThe SOUNDING GROUND composer residency program provides commissioning\, development\, and production support for Minnesota composers in the early stages of their careers. SOUNDING GROUND awardees work closely with Zeitgeist over an extended period on the development and production of a significant new work created for Zeitgeist. \nastrid hubbard flynn b. 1999\, they/them) is an autistic living on Dakota land in so-called Minneapolis. Originally trained as a classical musician\, astrid studied composition at Brown University with Wang Lu\, Kristina Warren and Eric Nathan\, and their notated work has been performed by Bent Frequency\, the Kukuruz Quartet and YarnWire. They now make solo harsh noise music as Asteroid\, ambient music with Aros E-V and NYMPHS\, and synth-punk with Musicians for Birds and Related Animals\, with past and upcoming releases on Bumpy Recordings. astrid also co-facilitates Handmade Noise Fun Club with Winona Vetsch at Seward Cafe\, and works at a public library. They have been referred to as “the sonic destroyer of souls themself” (Xochi de la Luna) and their music has been likened to “a cough that never stops” (Ivan Cunningham). \nIsaac Mayhew is a composer and trumpet player based in Saint Paul\, Minnesota. He has collaborated with performers across the country including Zeitgeist\, the Rochester New Music Ensemble\, the Lawrence University Symphonic Band\, the Beltline Bones\, The _____ Experiment\, Sputter Box\, Front Porch\, and the Zenith Saxophone Quartet\, and more. In addition to his work as a composer\, Isaac is an active performer and advocate for new music. He performs with Lemonbrass\, a Twin Cities-based brass quintet dedicated to music by living Minnesota composers. As a trumpet player\, he has commissioned\, premiered\, or recorded works by Anat Spiegel\, Daniel Whitworth\, Nebal Maysaud\, Evan Williams\, Jonathan Posthuma\, Emily Boyajian\, Thomas Myrmel\, and Conner Leigh Shaw. Isaac holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Lawrence University\, where he studied with Asha Srinivasan\, Joanne Metcalf\, and Benjamin Klein. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Millennium Composers Initiative and is on the boards of RenegadeEnsemble and the Minneapolis Choir Collective.\n\n​Yan Pang Yan Pang (she/they) is a composer\, performer\, and scholar whose work centers on intercultural music creation. As a composer\, her creative practice blends Chinese folk traditions with Western operatic and music-theater forms to explore themes of resilience\, solidarity\, and immigration. Her compositions have been featured in international collections and competitions\, including For Archie\, Nowhere Home\, and The Others (Contemporary Music Score Collection\, UCLA). She is also the songwriter and music director of the album Glory Times (China Science & Cultural Audio-Video Publishing House).As a performer\, Pang frequently realizes her compositional work through performance-based and collaborative contexts. Since 2019\, she has been composing and performing original music for MIXTAPE Dance in collaboration with choreographer Jason “J-Sun” Noer and music director Stefon “Bionik” Taylor.

DESCRIPTION:Brooklyn-based pianist Karl Larson performs works by Minneapolis composer Maura Bosch\, with readings by the Los Angeles artist and author Anders Nilsen. \nKarl Larson <https://www.karllarsonpiano.com/> is a Brooklyn-based pianist and specialist in the music of our time. A devoted supporter of contemporary composers and their craft\, Larson has built a career grounded in commissioning and long-term collaborations. He frequently performs in a variety of chamber music settings\, most notably with the Anzû Quartet\, a clarinet\, violin\, cello\, and piano quartet focussed on cultivating a diverse new repertoire for their instrumentation. As a soloist\, Larson is known for championing the works of his peers and the recent canon alike\, often gravitating towards long-form\, reflective works of the 20th and 21st centuries. Through his work with Bearthoven\, collaborations with a wide variety of chamber musicians\, and his solo projects\, Larson has helped to generate a large body of new work\, resulting in world premiere performances of pieces by notable composers including David Lang\, Sarah Hennies\, Scott Wollschleger\, and Michael Gordon. \nAnders Nilsen <https://www.andersbrekhusnilsen.com/> is the artist and author of ten books including Big Questions\, The End\, Poetry is Useless and Tongues. His work has been featured in the New York Times\, Poetry Magazine\, Kramer’s Ergot\, Pitchfork\, The New Yorker and elsewhere. His comics have been translated widely overseas and his painting and drawing have been exhibited internationally. Nilsen’s work has received three Ignatz awards as well as the Lynd Ward Prize for the Graphic Novel and Big Questions was listed as a New York Times Notable Book in 2011. \nMaura Bosch <https://mauraboschmusic.com/> is a composer and pianist. Her recent music for solo piano blurs the distinctions between classical\, ambient and jazz. Bosch started out as a composer of classical music\, focusing on operas and songs. But in 2020 she experienced a major shift in her life. After years of trying to ignore her mother’s Steinway M baby grand piano\, which takes up most of the living room in her small south Minneapolis house\, she finally became reconciled to it and started to compose music for it.

DESCRIPTION:MetroNOME is thrilled to present cellist Matt Haimovitz and pianist Christopher O’Riley in a special performance – the Universality of Bach. \nThe Bach Dialogues with Matt Haimovitz and Chistopher O’Riley \nIn early 2026\, former NPR host Christopher O’Riley and multi-GRAMMY-nominated cellist Matt \nHaimovitz launch their new album\, The Bach Dialogues (PENTATONE). The artists have a \nvoracious and expansive appetite for a wide range of music from various genres\, from Radiohead \n(Shuffle.Play.Listen) and Pussy Riot (Troika) to Beethoven Sonatas on period instruments \n(BEETHOVEN\, Period.). Both Mr. Haimovitz and Mr. O’Riley hold Bach in highest esteem among \ntheir multivarious musical passions. With their forthcoming collaboration focusing on Bach’s Sonatas \nfor Viola da Gamba\, O’Riley and Haimovitz realize a dream to enter into Bach’s Platonic timbral \nworld. DESCRIPTION:Steve Kenny Quintet will play a few selections from the recently released “Blue Chunks” CD intermixed with some crowd-pleasing favorite Jazz Standards selected from the group’s multiple years of performances. There will probably be some Coltrane material as well.\nSteve Kenny is active in the Minnesota Jazz community as a Performer\, Composer\, and Curator. Steve is a founding member of ‘the illicit sextet’\, “Group 47”\, “What Would Monk Do?” and his own “Quartets”. Steve was the curator of a weekly Saturday Jazz series at kj’s hideaway\, and before that at the Black Dog Cafe\, producing over 400 Saturday Night Jazz shows.  in 2020\, he released “Quartets”\, on Shifting Paradigm Records. It includes original compositions played by 4 separate ensembles of Twin Cities Jazz musicians\, including a Live version of Steve Kenny’s Ghost Suite. in 2025\, Steve released another CD “Blue Chunks” at Dakota Jazz Club.
