He is also an author of instructional music books for Hal Leonard and a theater/film composer\, but performing is his lifeblood.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n7-9pm – Teja Gerken and Phil Heywood\n \nSan Francisco Bay Area guitarist Teja Gerken <https://www.tejagerken.com/> has enchanted audiences ever since coming onto the acoustic fingerstyle scene in the late 1990s. Teja presents a program that reflects his diverse musical interests\, with a typical set including originals\, Celtic traditionals\, classical pieces\, jazz standards\, and some favorite tunes by his fingerstyle guitar peers. Teja’s piece “Takoma” won the instrumental category of the 2025 USA Songwriting competition\, and Acoustic Guitar magazine called his most recent album Test of Time\, “A sonic marvel\, from top to bottom.”\n\nForty years ago Phil Heywood <http://philheywood.com/> moved to town on the heels of a tour with guitarist Leo Kottke\, and he has been treating Twin Cities audiences ever since with his ear-bending clarity of tone and irresistible sense of rhythm. Over the years he has garnered a National Fingerpicking Championship\, top prize at the American Fingerstyle Guitar Festival\, and appearances on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion. Known for his lyrical\, soul-satisfying guitar instrumentals\, he can draw listeners in with his voice as well\, singing in a warm\, plainspoken baritone that blends seamlessly with his rock-solid guitar work.

DESCRIPTION:6-7:30pm – Wayne Fisher and David Crittenden Duo\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nDavid Crittenden started playing the guitar in his early teens. He is an accomplished classical guitarist and teacher in the twin cities area. He is currently on the music faculty at Minneapolis College.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWayne Fisher also started playing the guitar in his early teens. He has played in rock and roll bands\, studied classical guitar and now exclusively plays jazz guitar.  \n\nTogether David and Wayne enjoy arranging and playing jazz tunes that have been played by jazz musicians for many years.\n\n\n\n\n\n7:30-9pm – Dan Schwartz & Nick Salisbury – Guitar & Bass Duo\n \n\n\nRoots based\, melody driven tunes set in a loose jazz framework.  Both members of The Neighborhood Quartet.\n\nDan Schwartz has played with many singer-songwriters and acoustic acts\, including Dan Navarro and Peter Mayer.\n\nBassist Nick Salisbury is a particular favorite with songwriters and Americana acts such as Brian Fallon\, Sarah Morris\, Jack Klatt\, and the Dollys.

This hands-on workshop is a fun and approachable way to learn using adhesive vinyl (contact paper) to create bold\, graphic stencil designs. \nBefore class\, you’ll send us your image so it can be digitally prepared and die-cut from vinyl. DESCRIPTION:Steve Kenny Quintet will play a few selections from the recently released “Blue Chunks” CD intermixed with some crowd-pleasing favorite Jazz Standards selected from the group’s multiple years of performances. There will probably be some Coltrane material as well.\n\nSteve Kenny is active in the Minnesota Jazz community as a Performer\, Composer\, and Curator. Steve is a founding member of ‘the illicit sextet’\, “Group 47”\, “What Would Monk Do?” and his own “Quartets”. Steve was the curator of a weekly Saturday Jazz series at kj’s hideaway\, and before that at the Black Dog Cafe\, producing over 400 Saturday Night Jazz shows.  in 2020\, he released “Quartets”\, on Shifting Paradigm Records. It includes original compositions played by 4 separate ensembles of Twin Cities Jazz musicians\, including a Live version of Steve Kenny’s Ghost Suite. in 2025\, Steve released another CD “Blue Chunks” at Dakota Jazz Club. This was preceded by a series of live shows exploring the compositional concept of smaller “chunks” of music arranged into mini suites.  in 2019 the national Jazz Journalists Association named Steve as a “Minnesota Jazz Hero” for his work in the Jazz community and lifelong devotion to the Idiom.\n\n\nSteve Kenny – Trumpet\nDave  Brattain – Saxophones\nBryan Nichols – Piano\nChris Bates  – Bass\nMiguel Hurtado – Drums
