In the 70’s Dave was already playing fingerstyle\, when he heard Leo Kottke and also dove in.  After a couple of decades of playing in rock and blues bands\, Dave is re-devoted to playing acoustic fingerstyle. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n7-9pm  Joel Shapira with Special Guest Zacc Harris – solos and duos\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuitarist Joel Shapira <https://www.joelshapira.com>is an internationally acclaimed musician residing in St. Paul / Minneapolis MN. He’s a leader and/or member of multiple top Twin Cities’ jazz ensembles\, as well as a master of the demanding discipline of solo guitar. He performs regularly with world class musicians and has numerous acclaimed recordings to his credit. \n\n\nZacc Harris <https://zaccharris.com> is a Minneapolis-based guitarist\, composer\, and bandleader known for his dynamic performances and acclaimed work with groups like the Atlantis Quartet and the Zacc Harris Group. This project showcases the creativity of emerging composers\, highlighting how acoustic and electronic sound worlds can collide\, complement\, and transform one another in fresh and unexpected ways. \n\n\nThe concert will feature world premieres by Jeremi Edwards\, Amy Ian Hardemon\, César Ortiz\, Ian Lester\, David Roche\, Ali Balighi\, Dalton Regnier\, and Eddie Jonathan Garcia Borbón. Each composer brings a unique artistic voice to the program\, offering audiences a spectrum of perspectives that stretch the possibilities of contemporary chamber music. \n\n\nAt the heart of the project is the Beltline Bones\, a trombone quartet formed in 2021 that has quickly become a compelling voice in new music. Known for their adventurous programming and boundary-pushing collaborations\, the ensemble pairs the power and nuance of trombones with electronic textures to create soundscapes that are at once visceral and thought-provoking. Their 2024 EP Audiogenica\, released by cmntx records\, captured attention for its bold mix of commissioned works by composers such as Jay C. Batzner and Isaac Mayhew. \n\n\nThe Beltline Bones consists of tenor trombonists Cole Bartels\, Justin Coyne\, Zach Bethel\, and bass trombonist Adam Nissenbaum. Together\, they bring an expansive range of color\, dynamic energy\, and technical precision to every performance. By partnering with the Millennium Composers Initiative\, they are continuing their mission to champion innovative repertoire and amplify diverse voices in today’s music landscape. \n\n\nAudiences can expect an evening that reimagines what the trombone quartet can be—where electronics\, improvisation\, and bold compositional ideas converge to create something entirely new.

Colleen\, Julia\, Melissa\, and Stacie are all professional clarinetists who strive to bring the joy and pleasure of sharing music to the audience. \nThe Twin Cities-based 4 Low Pitches Bass Clarinet Quartet has two missions: bringing music of diverse composers and arrangers into the spotlight and highlighting the beauty and flexibility of the bass clarinet. Julia Heinen\, Melissa Morales\, Stacie Traill\, and Colleen White formed this unique and exciting ensemble in 2024. These four virtuoso women clarinetists perform as soloists\, chamber musicians and orchestral players globally and strive to make the world of music accessible to all. Their programming includes music from all genres presented in entertaining and captivating experiences leaving their listeners smiling throughout their performances. Their enthusiasm for pursuing new ways to explore the vast collaborative ways clarinetists can connect with each other and the community is infectious. Four Low Pitches is honored to be included in 2025-2026 MPR Class Notes Artist Roster whose mission is to provide free K-12 classroom concert experiences that inspire students and support teachers.

Also a dedicated teacher\, Ultan is on the faculty of MacPhail’s Center for Music and holds a Master’s Degree in Performance from Yale University. In demand locally and nationally\, Ultan has recorded and collaborated extensively with many theater\, pop\, jazz\, rock and new music artists.\n\nPavel Jany is a contemporary jazz guitarist and composer whose long musical journey encompasses many various styles. Pavel has founded several international jazz projects on the Twin Cities’ music scene\, including Brazilian jazz ensemble “Ticket To Brasil”\, acoustic jazz trio “Talking Strings”\, and jazz fusion group “Global Jazz Collegium”.

DESCRIPTION:North Star Jazz Workshops and Metronome Brewing Present:\nThe North Star Jazz Workshops Fall Concert series.\n\nNorth Star Jazz Workshops is excited to present a series of four concert nights over two months featuring our current lineup of adult jazz combos. These groups have been playing together for most of 2025 and are growing and learning with our teachers Chris Bates and Joe Hartnett. Each night will feature 4-5 groups performing repertoire from across the jazz canon. North Star Jazz Workshops launched at the beginning of 2025 and has really taken off. There are now over 100 people involved in combos and classes\, learning about and performing Americas original art form – Jazz.\nThese concerts are free and open to the public and you will be surprised by the level and variety of songs these groups will present.\nSO come to Metronome\, grab a beer\, head down to Fingal’s Cave\, and hear some great music on\nOctober 29th and 30th at 7pm\nNovember 28th and 29th at 2pm
