DESCRIPTION:Brooklyn-based pianist Karl Larson performs works by Minneapolis composer Maura Bosch\, with readings by the Los Angeles artist and author Anders Nilsen. \nKarl Larson <https://www.karllarsonpiano.com/> is a Brooklyn-based pianist and specialist in the music of our time. A devoted supporter of contemporary composers and their craft\, Larson has built a career grounded in commissioning and long-term collaborations. He frequently performs in a variety of chamber music settings\, most notably with the Anzû Quartet\, a clarinet\, violin\, cello\, and piano quartet focussed on cultivating a diverse new repertoire for their instrumentation. As a soloist\, Larson is known for championing the works of his peers and the recent canon alike\, often gravitating towards long-form\, reflective works of the 20th and 21st centuries. Through his work with Bearthoven\, collaborations with a wide variety of chamber musicians\, and his solo projects\, Larson has helped to generate a large body of new work\, resulting in world premiere performances of pieces by notable composers including David Lang\, Sarah Hennies\, Scott Wollschleger\, and Michael Gordon. \nAnders Nilsen <https://www.andersbrekhusnilsen.com/> is the artist and author of ten books including Big Questions\, The End\, Poetry is Useless and Tongues. His work has been featured in the New York Times\, Poetry Magazine\, Kramer’s Ergot\, Pitchfork\, The New Yorker and elsewhere. His comics have been translated widely overseas and his painting and drawing have been exhibited internationally. Nilsen’s work has received three Ignatz awards as well as the Lynd Ward Prize for the Graphic Novel and Big Questions was listed as a New York Times Notable Book in 2011. \nMaura Bosch <https://mauraboschmusic.com/> is a composer and pianist. Her recent music for solo piano blurs the distinctions between classical\, ambient and jazz. Bosch started out as a composer of classical music\, focusing on operas and songs. But in 2020 she experienced a major shift in her life. After years of trying to ignore her mother’s Steinway M baby grand piano\, which takes up most of the living room in her small south Minneapolis house\, she finally became reconciled to it and started to compose music for it.

DESCRIPTION:MetroNOME is thrilled to present cellist Matt Haimovitz and pianist Christopher O’Riley in a special performance – the Universality of Bach. \nThe Bach Dialogues with Matt Haimovitz and Chistopher O’Riley \nIn early 2026\, former NPR host Christopher O’Riley and multi-GRAMMY-nominated cellist Matt \nHaimovitz launch their new album\, The Bach Dialogues (PENTATONE). The artists have a \nvoracious and expansive appetite for a wide range of music from various genres\, from Radiohead \n(Shuffle.Play.Listen) and Pussy Riot (Troika) to Beethoven Sonatas on period instruments \n(BEETHOVEN\, Period.). Both Mr. Haimovitz and Mr. O’Riley hold Bach in highest esteem among \ntheir multivarious musical passions. With their forthcoming collaboration focusing on Bach’s Sonatas \nfor Viola da Gamba\, O’Riley and Haimovitz realize a dream to enter into Bach’s Platonic timbral \nworld. DESCRIPTION:Steve Kenny Quintet will play a few selections from the recently released “Blue Chunks” CD intermixed with some crowd-pleasing favorite Jazz Standards selected from the group’s multiple years of performances. There will probably be some Coltrane material as well.\nSteve Kenny is active in the Minnesota Jazz community as a Performer\, Composer\, and Curator. Steve is a founding member of ‘the illicit sextet’\, “Group 47”\, “What Would Monk Do?” and his own “Quartets”. Steve was the curator of a weekly Saturday Jazz series at kj’s hideaway\, and before that at the Black Dog Cafe\, producing over 400 Saturday Night Jazz shows.  in 2020\, he released “Quartets”\, on Shifting Paradigm Records. It includes original compositions played by 4 separate ensembles of Twin Cities Jazz musicians\, including a Live version of Steve Kenny’s Ghost Suite. in 2025\, Steve released another CD “Blue Chunks” at Dakota Jazz Club. Also a dedicated teacher\, Ultan is on the faculty of MacPhail’s Center for Music and holds a Master’s Degree in Performance from Yale University. In demand locally and nationally\, Ultan has recorded and collaborated extensively with many theater\, pop\, jazz\, rock and new music artists.\n\nPavel Jany is a contemporary jazz guitarist and composer whose long musical journey encompasses many various styles. Pavel has founded several international jazz projects on the Twin Cities’ music scene\, including Brazilian jazz ensemble “Ticket To Brasil”\, acoustic jazz trio “Talking Strings”\, and jazz fusion group “Global Jazz Collegium”.

DESCRIPTION:MetroNOME is thrilled to welcome Logan Metz to Fingal’s Cave. \nBIO: “Logan Metz is a musician\, writer\, and composer based in the American Midwest. His songwriting spans many genres\, from jazz and rock to folk and country\, but it’s all marked by artful chord changes\, a character-centric narrative style\, and a wry lyrical wit rooted firmly in the Tom Waits/ Randy Newman school of piano-based storytelling. \nHe’s written plays\, essays\, poems\, soundtracks\, and children’s albums\, and in 2015 earned a Master’s degree from University of Chicago for his rock opera adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Othello”. Soon after he released his first solo album\, “The Last Remaining Payphone in L.A.” (2016). \nIn 2018 Metz won a Fulbright fellowship to teach at IE University in Madrid\, but turned down the award in favor of re-joining his old college friends’ band\, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real\, as a multi-instrumentalist. Since then he has had the honor of playing with Neil Young\, Stephen Stills\, Joe Walsh\, Jimmy Buffett\, Eddie Vedder\, Warren Haynes\, Robby Krieger\, John Densmore\, Bob Weir\, and in 2023 toured on piano for Willie Nelson. \nHe’s currently working on a bunch of passion projects\, including a strategy card game\, a full-scale stage musical\, and a brand new solo album\, coming out early next year.” \n
