DESCRIPTION:Welcome back Green Line Quintet – \nGreen Line is a five piece jazz + funk band based in Minneapolis. Aidan Firchow\, Colin Fitzsimmons\, Matt Healy\, Nathan Klaers\, and Trevor Loewe met at the University of Minnesota in a jazz combo under the direction of Phil Hey. Since then they have been writing music and playing around the Twin Cities in clubs\, museums\, backyards\, and basements alike. Green Line plays a combination of original music and arrangements that bring a dynamic\, funk sound to tunes rooted in and inspired by the jazz tradition.

DESCRIPTION:Todd Harper\, Ian Rashkin & Eric Coursen have known each other since 1990.  Then\, Ian moved away. Todd and Eric played in various combos ever since. Now\, Ian is in town the second time this year from LA\, and we are excited to collaborate again! \nTonight’s show will feature some earlier tunes\, but with a focus on fresh iterations of our vast collective musical history.  Besides lyrical jazz waltzes\, ferocious mambos\, and things without a name\, expect Todd’s orations\, focused on contemporary life\, idiosyncratic juxtapositions\, observations. \nWe will also feature music from the local pioneer Carei Thomas. \n The ensemble features Todd Harper\, (composition\, piano\, orations\, small instruments). Ian Rashkin (bass\, compositions). Eric Coursen (drums) Bob Ockenden (guitar)\, and George Cartwright (alto & tenor saxophone) \nOur music may seem like a risky flight: but we always land safely.

DESCRIPTION:Larkspur Reed Trio\nOboe · English Horn · Clarinet \nStephanie Carlson – Oboe\nSusan Miranda – English Horn\nAmy McCann – Clarinet \n  \nMission Statement \nLarkspur Reed Trio (oboe\, English horn\, clarinet) is a chamber music ensemble comprised of innovative and cross-disciplinary women. As a 501c3 non-profit organization\, the ensemble is dedicated to high-quality performance\, education\, and community outreach. Larkspur is committed to collaborating with professionals from all genres and creative outlets\, with a particular focus on expanding the repertoire for this unique ensemble by commissioning new works by historically underrepresented composers. Through increasing the visibility of chamber music and chamber music ensembles\, Larkspur aims to inspire a wide range of audiences\, artists\, and supporters of the arts. \nShort Ensemble Bio \nSince the organization’s inception\, the ensemble has performed at The International Clarinet Association conference in Denver\, Colorado\, Dublin\, Ireland\, and Forth Worth\, Texas\, and they performed at the International Double Reed Society Conference in Flagstaff\, AZ. The trio has a strong passion for music education working to reach youth around the world through live performance and educational videos. With a grant from the Minnesota Regional Arts Council the trio collaborated with author Alexandra Alessandri and composer Alejandra Odgers to create a brand new musical story with the children’s story Isabel and Her Colores Go To School. The program was performed live in Minnesota libraries and throughout Tennessee and Kentucky. The video is available at no cost in both English and Spanish on the ensemble’s YouTube page. The ensemble has presented their “Educational Entrepreneurship: Creating Your Own Path as Performers” presentation at the College Music Society Conference in Washington\, DC and ClarinetFest in Fort Worth\, TX. The trios next venture is “From Sea to Sky\,” a program for adults about phenomenal women and their impressive stories. The ensemble will share this program at retirement communities and nursing homes throughout Minnesota. \n

SUMMARY:The Sam Stauning Quartet
DESCRIPTION:The Sam Stauning Quartet is a new small jazz ensemble created and led by tenor saxophonist \nSam Stauning. The group consists of some of the best young musicians in the Twin Cities. The \ngroup will perform various tunes from jazz standards to newer modern tunes. \nInfo for each band member: \nSam Stauning is a 17 year old up and coming tenor saxophonist currently a part of the Dakota \nEnsemble at MacPhail. He has received mentorship from local legends such as Peter Whitman\, \nKavyesh Kaviraj\, Jack Breen\, Kevin Washington\, Zacc Harris\, Abebi Stafford\, Ian Duerr\, and \nJesse Simon to name a few. Sam has played at Berlin\, the Dakota\, Twin Cities Jazz Festival\, \nand Minneapolis Institute of Art. He has received the award of Outstanding Soloist at the Eau \nClaire Jazz Festival. \nCallum Schultz is a 17 year old bassist who has performed alongside saxophone greats Joe \nLovano\, Kenni Holmen\, and JD Allen\, and has played at numerous Twin Cities venues such as \nThe Dakota\, the Landmark Center\, the Governor’s Residence\, The Green Room\, and Berlin \nJazz Club. He is a 2025/26 MN All State musician\, and a 2025/26 YoungArts jazz bass award \nwinner. \nAtaa\, who started playing drums as a toddler under the influence of his father\, the renowned \nGhanaian percussionist Sowah Mensah\, honed his craft under mentorship from local jazz greats \nlike Kevin Washington\, Felix James\, and Kavyesh Kaviraj. He has since become a fixture in the \nlocal music scene\, performing both as a leader and sideman. \nXavier Johnson Ryan is an up-and-coming jazz pianist in the Twin Cities area. He has \nperformed at venues including Icehouse\, the Green Room\, Jazz Central Studios\, the Dakota\, \nBerlin\, and the Twin Cities Jazz Festival. Johnson Ryan is a longstanding member of Twin Cities \nband Half Past Midnight and has played with jazz greats Kyle Poole and Joe Lovano among \nothers. He has studied under acclaimed jazz artists Kavyesh Kaviraj\, Kevin Washington\, Jack \nBreen\, and Solomon Parham.

The trio performs nationwide with a mission of exploring and expanding the piano trio repertoire while connecting through music to the world today. \nJacob holds the Assistant Principal Second Violin position at Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and is a core member of Loop38 and Kinetic Ensemble. Patricia is a Teaching Artist at Walker|West Music Academy\, a core member of Kinetic Ensemble\, 10th Wave Chamber Music Collective and Delphia Cello Quartet and the former cellist of the Artaria String Quartet. Jeong-Eun is Assistant Professor of Collaborative Piano at Louisiana State University and performs as collaborative pianist at the Aspen Music Festival and School.
