Big Blue Moon is a modern piano jazz trio from south Minneapolis, led by Nick Bhalla. Big Blue Moon honors the tradition of the classic interplay of a trio format, while also pushing new boundaries through Nick’s compositions and arrangements. As a special treat for this show, the trio will be adding tenor sax player Race Hoglund into the mix for a few tunes.

Katia Cardenas inspires audiences with her smooth, powerful voice and infectious, uplifting energy. Recognized for her impeccable range and dynamic stylings, she has been performing since an early age. Katia has been most influenced by Ella Fitzgerald’s spirited jazz standards, Aretha Franklin’s high-powered R&B flavors, and Astrid Giberto’s dulcet bossa tones. This show will feature Katia’s collaboration with Nick’s trio.
